A man with a gun was arrested Tuesday after a police chase and murder of a Chicago-area newspaper, which was still in circulation on Sunday.
The arrest came hours after a Chicago Police Department SWAT team arrested 25-year-old Joshua Smith on multiple felony charges of murder and armed robbery.
Smith’s arrest comes after he killed the Tribune-Review, a Chicago newspaper that covers the suburbs, and two other newspapers in Illinois, according to police.
Smith is currently being held at the Cook County Jail.
A Chicago Police report said that Smith “attempted to obtain a copy of the newspaper with the intent to use it as a weapon.”
He was captured in a shootout with police after being shot at a home in the 5000 block of North Pulaski Road in the city’s northwest neighborhood.
