The unemployment rate is set to climb to 5.3 per cent by December as people seek to re-enter the workforce.

The Job Market in 2018 1.7 million people are looking for work in the private and public sectors, with the unemployment rate set to rise to 5 per cent.
That is more than double the rate of the previous two years.
2.1 million people, or about one in three Australians, are unemployed, according to the Bureau of Statistics.
3.1 per cent of Australians are employed part-time or casual and in this year’s labour force of almost 14.7 per cent are working on temporary contracts.
4.2 million Australians are in the public sector, but only 1.5 million are full-time employees.
5.5 per cent or 990,000 people are unemployed because they do not have a job.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says there are more than 1.8 million full- and part- time jobs in Australia.
The unemployment figures show there were more than 8 million jobs available to people aged 16 to 64 in December, up from 744,000 the previous month.

If you can find work for less than the current average wage you can take on a job at a higher salary or offer your own.
